Town Hall about Bigot Brewery Turns Karen-y
Delegate Jackie Glass' Town Hall at LGBTQ+ friendly bar saw nearly total displeasure with Armed Forces Brewing Company coming to Norfolk... except for one person.
Virginia Delegate Jackie Glass held a town hall at the LGTBQ+ friendly bar MJs Tavern in Norfolk, VA Thursday night. The town hall was planned suddenly after Glass's early endorsement of the Armed Forces Brewing Company acquiring O'Connor Brewing Company in the Park Place neighborhood. Since it was exposed that Armed Forces Brewing was run by people who shared anti-LGBTQ+ memes and appeared on national conservative media decrying LGBTQ+ representation in the military she has somewhat walked back that endorsement. Glass still "welcomes" them to the area but committed that she would ask Governor Youngkin to remove her endorsement from the statement that he shared this past weekend.
Dozens of people spoke out against the brewery coming to Norfolk - and a particularly progressive area of the city, Park Place/Ghent, but one person, Leslie, was extremely unhappy with people speaking out against it. She shared her thoughts loudly and often about "trans culture and gay culture" and said that she felt attacked by the people there. No one “attacked” her throughout the evening or even spoke out against her until she shared bigoted opinions about the people present, including one woman who identified as a straight. Leslie eventually left but not before sharing her opinions loudly once again and screaming at people in the dining area of the tavern. She needed to be escorted to the door by management. Witnesses outside of MJs said that she hit a car on the way out, believing that she was intoxicated.
Watch the interaction here, bit of a warning the audio is LOUD in portions and she is an otherwise unpleasant person.
The brewery currently is moving forward moving into Norfolk, but first they must seek community and city council support. More on this as I get it.
