Much has been written about Paul Dans, the Director of the Heritage Foundation’s 2025 Presidential Transition Project. Dans is the best bit of evidence of the connection between Project 2025 and the Trump Campaign. It is the plan for the Trump administration’s ‘Day One.’
Dans, a lawyer, worked in the Trump administration the last time around in several different positions, including one as a liaison to the former President. He’s not hiding it, here’s his LinkedIn page.
Before Dans went to work in the Trump administration he worked as a lawyer for the firm Rivero Mestre, which was one of the many firms working for Chevron in the multi-billion dollar pollution case in Ecuador. You can watch Greg Palast’s, investigation here:
Dans brags about it often - but in the video (at the top of the article) at the National Conservatism conference earlier this month he tied his destruction of the Cofan’s case against Chevron into why the Heritage Foundation created Project 2025.
Dans: You know, I came I like to say I'm a simple country lawyer, from Manhattan County, New York, like, you know, I worked in these big firms, you know, worked on all the big cases with Chevron.
Ecuador if you want to know more about that, I'm the guy who came up with the idea to get the outtakes and found the smoking gun and saved them 27 billion, but I digress, that case was instructive because the folks on the other side of it were the progressives. This was the same folks who now mind the White House, actually the ringleader of that was the basketball buddy of, President Obama from Harvard Law School.
So what it really but really showed me as an outsider was how willing, how tough our adversary is, how smart and how relentless they are. And and it said, you know, if you were really going to get in this game, you're going to have to you're going to have to appreciate what you're going up against. And you're going to have to be on your game.
That means we need to practice and prepare like any person who did. Sports knows you have to get ready in the offseason.
President Obama did nothing to help the case or help his "basketball buddy” lawyer Steven Donziger when he was attacked by a VERY Chevron-friendly judge and sentenced to jail, then house arrest. You can read Palast’s article and watch the interview with Donziger here.
